Construction Project Manager

About the Role

At HealthOne our Construction Project Manager plays a critical role in providing leadership and strategic oversight to ensure that our fit-out projects meet scheduling, budget, safety, and quality standards. Reporting directly to the President and CEO, this role will oversee a portfolio of projects from pre-construction to project completion and will have project management oversight on our real estate, construction, and site launch.

The ideal candidate will have a project management background in the construction industry, budget management experience, and be able to effectively communicate to solve problems while possessing strong vendor management and negotiation skills. Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of new clinic builds from inception to completion, ensuring project objectives are met on time, within budget, and to quality standards

  • Provide strategic oversight and expert guidance to the leadership team, delivering regular updates on the various stages of our fit-out projects including budgeting, scheduling, contract negotiations, and overall project progress

  • Manage relationships with vendors, contractors, and other external stakeholders to ensure project goals are met efficiently and cost-effectively

  • Oversee value engineering process and work to identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality

  • Manage the tender/bid process, analyze scope and costs, organize bids, and provide detailed recommendations

  • Review general contractor scopes and contracts for accuracy to tender process

  • Lead and coordinate internal teams (design, construction, and site launch) to ensure alignment on project goals, timelines, and regulatory requirements

  • Drive a culture of safety and compliance across all projects, ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulations.

  • Ensure all billing milestones are met and tracked efficiently to support project financial health

Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum of 10 years of Project Management experience within the construction industry

  • Post-Secondary degree or diploma in a relevant field; PMP Certification preferred

  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, industry practices, inspection process, quality control measures, budgeting, and safety

  • Knowledge of the Construction Act and CCDC and CCA documents

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to engage, communicate, and build relationships with both internal and external stakeholders

  • Ability to collaborate and lead teams to resolve problems quickly and effectively

  • Persuading and influencing skills, with a strong ability to manage expectations and negotiate effectively

  • Entrepreneurial, strategic and problem-solving mind-set – required

  • Strong presentation skills

  • Customer focused, results orientated approach

  • Highly skilled in MS Office Suite and Project, able to learn other technical tools as required

  • Proven ability to ensure adherence to health and safety culture across all projects
